Agronome
(1990)
Agronome is a sound sculpture consisting of a prepared upright piano mounted on a steel axle connecting two 8’ wooden wheels driven by two firehose belt pulleys turned by bicycle pedals. The player is perched on a 1928 Farmall tractor seat. There’s only one low gear that moves the absurdist vehicle at a snail’s pace. Noise cylinders, attached to the wheel spokes, produce the sounds of cows, sheep, and birds creating a composite agricultural soundscape. Tragically, no documentation of this can be found.
