AVIARIUM

Structurally, AVIARIUM is a reconfiguration of Sighting Wheel transformed into a performance space dedicated to the re-membering and giving voice and movement to the two-hundred bird species we humans have eradicated since the Age of Exploration in the past five-hundred years. The numbers of extinct and critically endangered species will increase considerably by century’s end. Thus, like the Catalog Of Extinct Birds, Aviarium’s function as a space for memorializing avian extinctions is an increasing liturgy of names, soundings, movements, and shapes.
